Test Site Survey Training

M. C. Miller data-loggers, such as the “Gx Data-loggers”, directly integrate with ProActive, which is M. C. Miller’s corrosion control data management software application.

With respect to test site surveys, a significant portion of “Test Site Survey Training” is devoted to test site management via the ProActive application and the balance of the training covers the collection of site survey data using your particular data-logger and posting of the field-collected data to your ProActive database.

General Course Topics:

• Overview of the ProActive application - including Server database login via ProActive and Briefcase functionality overview.
• Overview of your pipeline system layout, as represented by ProActive’s database tree, with an emphasis on the location of test sites at which data will be collected in the field. Test sites (referred to in ProActive as “Devices”) would be rectifiers, test stations, bonds etc.
• How to view the historical readings data associated with your test sites and how to (optionally) associate relevant data, contained in various file formats, with each of your test sites, such as maintenance records, construction records, photographs, etc.
• How to review, and select, if required, the data types (reading types, in ProActive terminology) for each of your test sites and how to arrange the data-types in your preferred order (the order in which you prefer to take your readings in the field at each test site).
• How to review (and potentially modify, if necessary) configuration templates that are associated with each of your data types, for each of your test sites.
• How to build routes in ProActive (routes are groupings of suitably-configured test sites), including how to arrange the sites in your preferred order for visiting.
• How to “check-out” a Briefcase containing your route (or routes) data plus other selectable (optional) data to have at your disposal when working off-line, such as test site attribute data (associated photographs, maintenance records etc. for each site in your route) and pipeline survey data that’s been associated with your line segments.
• How to download route data to your data-logger in Briefcase mode.
• Overview of your data-logger.
• How to collect site survey data using your data-logger.
• How to post your site survey data to ProActive in Briefcase (off-line) mode.
• How to review your site survey data via the Route Manager function in Briefcase mode and how to check that your latest readings data are properly-associated with each of your test sites.
• How to synchronize your Briefcase database with the Server database, thus updating the Server database with your latest readings.
• How to generate graphical and textual reports.
